Stephanie J. Block is back on Broadway beginning March 15, when she takes over the role of nightclub singer-turned-evangelist Reno Sweeney in the Tony-winning revival of Anything Goes. Block is replacing original star Sutton Foster, who is headed for Hollywood to film new ABC Family series Bunheads. Block previously stepped in for Foster in November 2011 while Foster filmed the series' pilot episode.
Block's Broadway credits include 9 to 5, Wicked, The Boy From Oz and The Pirate Queen. She has also appeared off-Broadway in By the Way, Meet Vera Stark.
Anything Goes opened on April 7, 2011 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall and featuring a classic score by Cole Porter. The revival earned three Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Actress in a Musical for star Foster. The production currently also stars Joel Grey as Moonface Martin, Colin Donnell as Billy Crocker, Erin Mackey as Hope Harcourt, Julie Halston as Evangeline Harcourt, John McMartin as Elisha J. Whitney and Jessica Stone as Erma.
